The Federal Trade Commission has established a
National Do Not Call list for telephone sales calls.
The Do Not Call Rule prohibits most “cold”
calls; random and other calls from merchants with whom you have no
previous connection.
It
does not apply to calls that you have authorized or requested.
If you fill out a form to get information
about a product or service, that merchant can call you. You can register your telephone number on the Do Not
Call list by either
1.
calling the FTC’s registration line from the
phone you want to register and entering your phone number when prompted at
888-382-1222;
or
2.
registering online at
http://www.donotcall.gov.
The online procedure requires you to have
access to an email address.
